Contents of the Collection The collection relates to the World War II experience of 1st Lieutenant John D. Carroll, who served as a flight navigator and bombadier. It includes aeronautical charts for Hong Kong and Hungtze, China and Osaka and Choshi, Japan as well as a small amount of newspaper clippings related to World War II. Abstract William Orthman (1911-1990) was drafted into the United States Army in 1942. He served in the China-Burma-India Theater as Public Relations Officer. The collection is comprised of 340 photographs and a small amount of textual materials from his 1945-1946 service.
